FEM modelling of materials processing and properties. Theoretical bases and practical implementation in ABAQUS program.  

 

 

1.         Theoretical basis of the linear theory of elasticity. The principle of virtual work. Formulation of the boundary value problem. The basic principles for solving problems using the finite element method.

2.         Basics of program ABAQUS. Examples of solving problems of the theory of elasticity in the program ABAQUS. The problem of modeling the deformation of tool during metal forming processes.

3.         The theoretical foundations of the theory of small elastic plastic deformation. Models of the mechanical properties of elastic-plastic materials. Theorem on unloading. Modelling of residual stresses.

4.         The solution of elastic-plastic problems by using ABAQUS. Examples solving of the cold metal forming problem.

5.         The theoretical foundations of the theory of plastic flow of incompressible materials. The variational principle of Markov. The model materials under large deformations. Features of using finite element method to solve problems in the theory of plastic flow.

6.         The formulation of temperature boundary value problem. Features of its solutions using FEM. Coupled thermomechanical problems. Simulation of thermal stresses with take into account phase transformations.

7.         Application of the program ABAQUS for solutions of coupled thermomechanical problems. Examples solving of metal forming problems at high temperatures.

8.         Simulation of forming processes in several scales. Examples of micro-scale simulation using ABAQUS.
