NANOSATELLITE ATTITUDE DETERMINATION AND CONTROL


This course intends to give students first insight into attitude termination and control strategies of satellites of very small sizes.

Lectures will cover the basics of spaceflight and mission design including orbital mechanics and attitude dynamics. Components and algorithms constituting the attitude determination and control systems will be explained.
                                         
Students will also learn how to use Matlab/Simulink, Scilab/CelesLab and AGI STK software packages to simulate satellite orbits, attitude and various other variables.


A project part is included where groups of student will design their own attitude determination and control algorithm using a dedicated test stand consisting of a Helmholtz cage and satellite test article suspended on the air bearing.
