Impact of models for multiparton interactions in proton-proton collisions at LHC energies for the prediction of radiation damage of LHCb silicon trackers

RESEARCH PROJECT

  • AGH University of Science and Technology and Polish National Science Centre are happy to invite applications for a newly funded 4-year PhD position.
  • The project is granted with 5000 PLN (approx.1100 Euro) per month for the first two years and 6 000 PLN per month after the interim evaluation.

Requirements

  • The applicants must hold a Master degree in Physics or similar discipline.
  • Previous knowledge of particle physics and silicon detectors is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • We prefer candidates that are less than 26 years old.
  • Applicants must be willing to spend the PhD in Kraków, Poland and register at AGH Doctoral School .
  • Diplomas must be confirmed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) .
  • Project includes 6-months practise at CERN or in similar research centre and covers expenses for conferences or workshops.
  • Applicants must join LHCb Physics Working group and participate in detector shifts.

  • The deadline for applications is 3 July 2020 .
  • For selected candidates, online interviews will be organised in mid July 2020.
  • The admissions to school must be completed by August 28, formal exam is on September 9.
  • The appointment will start 1 October 2020 in Kraków .
