Optimization Techniques

OOC problems depend heavily on external means of manipulating great amounts of data, namely, secondary (for example hard drivers) and tertiary (for example tape libraries) storage devices. These applications require a highly efficient I/O system. To achieve this goals various optimization techniques were devised [*], [*]. The most significant ones are described in this Section.
