Prof. Dr. Marek R. Ogiela
Employee of the Chair of Automatic Control Engineering at the AGH
University of Science and Technology; conducts research on automatic
analysis and image understanding systems, intelligent information systems,
mathematical linguistics and AI as well as cryptographic aspects of
computer security systems. In 1992 M. R. Ogiela graduated from the Jagiellonian
University, Faculty
of Mathematics, Chair of Computer Science. In 1996
for his honours doctoral thesis on syntactic
methods of analysis and image recognition he was awarded the title of
Doctor of Control Engineering and Robotics at the Faculty of Electrical,
Automatic Control, Computer Science and Electronic Engineering of the AGH
University of Science and Technology. In 2001 he was awarded the title of
Doctor Habilitated in Computer Science for his research on medical image
automatic analysis and understanding. In 2005 he received a professor title
in technical sciences.
Member of many prestigious scientific associations, including: SPIE,
SCAR, IEEE Computer Society. Author of more than 140 international
publications in the field of analysis, recognition, machine perception and
image understanding as well as AI. In his research M. R. Ogiela develops
also the fields of information techniques and cryptography, computer
systems security and multimedia techniques. Laureate of many prestigious
awards, including Prof. Takliński's award and
Prof. Engels's award. Reviewer of world scientific
periodicals, inter alia, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and
Cybernetics, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Journal and Journal of
Intelligent & Robotic Systems, and Journal of Biomedical Informatics.
