Core Focus

I’m an enthusiast, practitioner, and researcher of intelligent software systems for space missions and orbital platforms. My work lies at the intersection of AI, system architecture, and cybersecurity. I lead two research groups and collaborate with academic and industrial teams to turn ambitious tech concepts into working, mission-ready solutions to support astronauts, operators, and mission control — as well as planetary rovers, satellites, telescopes, and space stations — on Earth and beyond.

Passion

I’m passionate about developing AI systems that go beyond algorithms — systems that can sense, interpret, and act within complex environments. In the context of space exploration, this means designing embodied AI agents capable of assisting astronauts, operating autonomously during long-duration missions, and adapting to uncertain, resource-constrained conditions.

With the HELIOS initiative, I’m particularly focused on building simulation-based platforms for training and evaluating intelligent agents in orbital and planetary scenarios. This research connects fields like robotics, large language models, multimodal learning, and human–machine interaction — all with the goal of enabling safer, smarter space missions.

Background & Perspective

I’ve consistently combined research with practical application in both academic and industry collaborations — from work in AI, simulations, and high-performance computing to secure, national-scale systems and commercial software used by millions of users.

Outside of research, I enjoy exploring future tech, and sharing knowledge with my students and collaborators. I like working with people who are curious, pragmatic, ambitious and independent and who aren’t afraid to ask questions, explore bold ideas, and build useful things — especially in highly-challenging domains like space systems.
