    Prof. Jacek Kitowski, kito@agh.edu.pl, (full professor of computer science) graduated in 1973 at the Electrical Department of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow (Poland). He obtained Ph.D. (in physics) in 1978 and D.Sc. (habilitation) in 1991 in computer science at the same University. He is the Head of the Computer Systems Group at the Department of Computer Science of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow, Poland. Made full professor in 2001 (State Professorship). He also works for the Academic Computer Centre CYFRONET-AGH, where he is responsible for developing high-performance systems and for international affairs.
    He is the author or co-author of about 250 scientific papers (of which ca. 130 is WoS indexed). His topics of interest include, but are not limited to, large-scale computations, multiprocessor architectures, high availability systems, distributed computing, Grid/Cloud services and Grid/Cloud storage systems, knowledge engineering. He participates in program committees of many conferences, and has been involved in many national and international projects most notably in EU IST CrossGrid, where he directed a task aimed at data access optimization, in the EU IST Pellucid Project, as the WP leader, in EU IST K-WfGrid Project, in EU int.eu.grid Project, in EU Gredia Project, in EU gSLM, in EDA EUSAS and in family of PL-Grid Projects (PL-Grid, PLGrid PLUS, PLGrid NG and PLGrid Core) funded by EU via Structural Funds Innovative Economy. He was working for EU FP7 PaaSage project and coordinating the EU RFCS VirtROLL project. Recently involved also in H2020 Indigo DataCloud and EGI Engage projects.
    Director of Polish Consortium PL-Grid for development of computing infrastructure for scientific research.
