Cross-platform portability

The portability of lip library can be guaranteed by building it on top of the Message Passing Interface . lip follows the suggestion of MPI standard documents that provide functionality implementable on all current super-computing architectures. It should enable lip to be easily ported to all these systems: from SMP machines to workstation clusters.
