Goal of the thesis

The goal is to present a proposal of efficient embedding logic programming technology in Relational Databases so that an extended data processing paradigm is obtained. The main idea of a new proposal is based on integrating the inference engine with the database and feeding the database with intensional knowledge which can be processed by the engine. The inferred results are perceived as dynamically generated relations (views). The thesis offers a new technology enabling handling recursive queries with complex data structures provided with a standard SQL interface. The detailed thesis of the work are formulated in Chapter 2, Section 2.5.
