Choosing the environment

As a development and target environment for the Osiris UNIX® is chosen. It is because of the following reasons:

• UNIX® is stable and suitable for development of applications,
• both Kheops and gKheops are written in portable C language and work in UNIX® environment,
• there are many tools for programmers and they are licensed GNU (see Section 5.2.2 and [4]),
• portability among many hardware and software platforms.
