Event-based Systems in 2020: Analysis and Forecast
first european experts’ workshop on emerging trends in event based systems
About Workshop
Background: The interest in the evolving event-based methods and technologies is steadily growing within diverse research communities encompassing control, communication, computing, and signal processing. At the same time, there is no proper body to coordinate those activities by providing a leadership in charting directions those research areas should follow to reflect the actual and potential needs of various industry sectors.
Purpose: The
purpose of the 1st European Experts’ Workshop on Event Based Systems is
to:
- identify the state of the art of event based systems
- collect visions on the evolution of the event based systems from perspectives of diverse research communities: control, signal processing, instrumentation, etc
- predict trends to emerge in the
short and long terms
Main outcome &
deliveries: The main
outcome of the workshop will be the
identification of the established directions and emerging trends in the
event-based systems and their impact on research, arising technology,
and advancement of the society through the technology evolution and
deployment. The workshop’s organizers will issue a post workshop
document, distributed to all participants, based on the workshop
proceedings outlining established directions and emerging trends. The
document is intended to serve as a blueprint for future research and to
coordinate research in diverse areas of event based systems. The
document will also serve as a community statement on the trends to be
used as a significant documentary argument in supporting applications
for major research grants from the European Commission.
Workshop structure:
- plenary sessions - aimed to summarize state of the arts and discuss emerging trends
-
plenary panel and discussion - aimed at an interaction between the
plenary speakers and participants
-
area oriented workshops – to lay down directions for the future
research in well defined areas
Speakers:
World leading experts from
event-based application domains will
participate in the event to share their assessment of state of the
knowledge and technology and visions for the evolutions of scientific
inquiry and resulting technologies and deployments.
Participants
impact:
The participant will have
an
opportunity to contribute to the
understanding of the state of arts and emerging trends through
participation in plenary sessions, plenary panel and discussion, and
area oriented workshops.
Co-location: The workshop will be held on 16 June 2015 in Krakow, in conjunction with the 1st International Conference on Event-based Control, Communication, and Signal Processing, Krakow, Poland - http://ebccsp2015.org/
