This chapter describes approaches concerning design of a system, which can extend knowledge processing capabilities of the RDBMS in a manner described in Chapter 8. The issues, discussed here, were also presented in [29,28]. Different types of possible coupling of the inference engine with the RDBMS are described. They are also confronted with the requirements from Chapter 8. Finally, the most flexible design is chosen.
