NEW! Multiculture UNESCO AGH Day 2014


UNESCO AGH Chair invites on February 20, 2014 at the: Multicultural AGH UNESCO 2014 Meeting. During the Event the Fellows of the UNESCO AGH Programme will present traditions and culture and tourist interest from the following regions: Central Asia (Mongolia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan), East Africa (Burundi), Latin America (Cuba, Brazil), Madagascar, Pakistan, South-Asia (Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka), South-East Asia (Laos), West Africa (Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Mali, Cameroon, Togo). There would also be a tasting of regional dishes made by the Fellows. Honorary Patronage of the project: AGH UST Vice Rector for Education, prof. dr hab. inż. Andrzej Tytko.

We invite ALL AGH UST staff and community with families and students.

UNESCO Interregional Engineering Conference in Technology and Education - Global Benchmarking and Monitoring, 5-7.12.2013; Krakow, Poland
In this year conference theme concerns the needs identification of developing countries in the field of engineering education, science and technology in accordance with the priorities of UNESCO for 2008-2013, as well as the exchange of knowledge and experiences of the participants.

IX International Conference On Drive Systems In The Transport Devices

 

IX International Conference on Drive Systems in the Transport Devices (NAPEDY2013), November 20th, 2013, Krakow, Poland. Conference topics: current problems in design, testing and operation of the drive systems and their equipment, with special including transport devices; development and design machines components with special consideration elements such as clutches, brakes, gear reducers, pumps, bearings and others.
UNESCO AGH Chair is coorganiser of the NAPEDY2013 Conference, and is the organisator of the International Young Researcher Session on 20th November 2013.

ADDITIONAL CALL - Ph.D. Fellowships Programme in Engineering in Poland - cycle 2013 B-b

UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology and Engineering Education at the AGH University of Science and Technology Krakow, Poland, announces the launch of a Ph.D. scholarship program for young scientists from rapid economic growth countries in Engineering (2013 edition B-b).

The offer is addressed to the citizens of the countries of rapid economic growth (a list of countries you can see here) intending to start a Ph.D. study in Poland since the academic year 2013/14 in English language.

Facilities offered by Polish Authorities: free tuition; monthly allowance of 1350 PLN (approximately US $450) corresponding to the salary of a local junior research fellow. Thus, all living expenses in Poland are to be borne by the fellow with this allowance. Candidate must cover: International round travel expenses; Health insurance for the period of stay in Poland; Polish visa expenses. The Ph.D. scholarship program duration planned from October 1, 2013 is app. 10-12 months and may be a subject to extension.

Applications for grants must be submitted to the Bureau for Academic Recognition and International Exchange (biuro@buwiwm.edu.pl) through the selected by candidate host university (UNESCO AGH Chair, unesco@agh.edu.pl) for doctoral studies (Ph.D.) until 13 September 2013.

The questionnaire (attached annex 01) must be accompanied by:
1. a copy of the diploma obtained abroad entitlement to undertake doctoral studies (Ph.D.) in the country of issue (translated to Polish or English language),
2. opinion of two senior researchers (including at least one from Polish),
3. CV/ resume and cover letter.

AGH University of Science and Technology the Ph.D. project proposals in Engineering in English (2013 edition B-b) is attached annex 02. Candidates will be recommended for admission to the AGH UST based on competition by potential projects supervisors and based on candidates’ submissions for presented Ph.D. project proposals only. Required all documents (set) must be returned to the address the UNESCO AGH Chair (unesco@agh.edu.pl) by 13 September 2013 (deadline for applications of completed documents). Determines the date of receipt of documents: set electronically by e-mail: unesco@agh.edu.pl till September 13, 2013; paper set at: AGH University of Science and Technology, UNESCO AGH Chair, Av. A. M.Sc. Fellowships Programme based on the Eastern Partnership (edition 2013 C)

The M.Sc. Fellowships Programme by Stefan Banach addressed to: Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia. Requires knowledge of the Polish language at a level that allows to study in Poland. UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology and Engineering Education at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland announces the launch of the scholarship program for young scientists from rapid economic growth countries, edition (edition 2013 A)

With a view to promoting human resource capacities in the developing countries and to enhancing international understanding and friendship among nations and the people of Poland, the Polish National Commission for UNESCO and the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology and Engineering at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow are placing at the disposal of UNESCO thirty-two (32) fellowships of six (6) months duration starting on 1st October 2013 for the benefit of Member States listed in Annex I. Beneficiaries of these fellowships will be given the opportunity to undertake an individual research programme in the field of Science. Deadline for applications: 10 July 2013.

UNESCO AGH Chair Workshop on Innovation and Technology Transfer to Emerging Countries in the Frame of the UNESCO Activities, 25 January 2013, Krakow, Poland


Organizator: UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology and Engineering Education at the AGH University of Science and Technology Krakow, Poland. Workshop Scope: The main target of the Workshop is identification universities' partner from the African, Asian, and Latin American countries, their needs and potential in the science and technology and engineering education promotion and transfer, as well possible joint cooperation areas based on innovation and technology transfer to emerging countries in the frame of the UNESCO activities.

Polish - Norwegian Seminar

On September 20 UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology and Engineering Education at the AGH UST organized a meeting with 21 young researchers and students form the Bergen University College, Norway. The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize them with educational and scientific potential of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. The meeting was opened by Professor Dr hab. C. Eng.Zbiginew Kąkol, Vice-Rector for Science, and chaired by Professor Dr hab. C. Eng.Janusz Szpytko, UNESCO AGH Chairholder. The participants became acquainted with several laboratories in five faculties of the AGH UST.

UNESCO AGH Chair - partnership between AGH and MUST  
During  6th-8th June 2012, Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Ulaanbaatar was hosted participants of the international conference: Building a world class university: Challenges and Initiatives 2012. The Polish side (AGH) was represented by prof. Jerzy Lis, Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation and prof. Janusz Szpytko, UNESCO AGH Chairholder.   During the visit prof. J. Lis (AGH UST) and prof. Damdinsuren Bayanduuren, the Rector of MUST, signed the cooperation agreement expressing willingness for joint cooperation between AGH UST and MUST, especially in relation to the UNESCO schema implementation.
