UNESCO AGH Chair - partnership
between AGH UST and MUST
During 6-8 June 2012,
Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) in
Ulaanbaatar was hosted participants of the international
conference: Building a world class university: Challenges
and Initiatives 2012. During the conference, 40 lectures
were delivered in the following thematic groups: Creating a
world class university: Policy and Initiatives, New Changes
and Challenges in Engineering Higher Education, University
Developing Excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The aim of the conference was discussion focused on the
development of conditions for the construction of a
technical university that meets the requirements of the
global world and the twenty-first century. The conference
was attended by representatives of seven countries: China,
Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, USA. The
Polish side (AGH) was represented by prof. Jerzy Lis,
Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation and prof. Janusz
Szpytko, UNESCO AGH Chairholder.
During the conference two papers were delivered on: A
Mission-Oriented Technical University Twenty-First Century
and The Importance of Knowledge and Practice in Education at
the Level of Engineering. Also participants were
familiarized with the directions of activities and
accomplishments of the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology
and Engineering Education at the AGH University of Science
and Technology.
During the visit prof. J. Lis (AGH UST) and prof.
Damdinsuren Bayanduuren, the Rector of MUST, signed the
cooperation agreement expressing willingness for joint
cooperation between AGH UST and MUST, especially in relation
to the UNESCO schema implementation. The meeting was also
attended by MUST Vice-Rector, prof. Ochirbat Baatar.
The Conference in the MUST was the result of the initiative
of the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology and Engineering
Education at AGH University of Science and Technology: UCTE
2011, UNESCO Interregional Education Conference in
Technology and Education - Global Benchmarking and
Education, Krakow, 8-10 December 2011, and previous the MUST
staff visits in the AGH UST under the UNESCO AGH Chair
initiatives.
