Diffusion Layer Model

Time-dependent Diffusion Layer Model for simulating the calibration curves of Ion-Selective Electrodes. It allows, e.g. calculating the lower detection limit of ISE.

The TDM model takes into account only two monovalent ions, the preferred and the discriminated, diffusing in membrane and diffusion layer of sample solution, while exchange and coextraction processes occur at the membrane|solution interfaces. Author solved the diffusion problem inside each of the two phases by using the finite difference method with uniform grid and used explicit Euler’s method to solve the set of obtained ODEs.
